BLACK BLOOD

This is inspired by two beautiful people, but dedicated to all the beautiful black gold

inspired by the ugliness of self hate of our people, and racism of people in general,  inflicted on two really beautiful dark chocolate skinned black women

BLACK BLOOD
(first draft)
1/6/12

Have you ever seen black blood
Funneled from the night sky into blue veins
Liquid onyx melted into molecules that swim through
Platinum veins
Flecks like dark diamonds finely crushed into dark angel dust
And blown off full lips onto fire kissed skin
And our platelets be rich like Queen marrow
The royal bones that became dirt
and grew trees that have branches that dance
and leaves that salute us
Roots that give birth to golden dust

They aint never seen beauty til they seen black blood

Drums bang in our bloodstream
But the ignorant be Helen Keller lost
Deaf to our song, blind to our majesty
Their words be invisible machetes
So our backs curve like the weapon
See our presence be equally as deadly
The antidote be the poison
The love of the ones they loathe is the remedy
But baby we’re built strong
The structure of the rib copies the embrace of our arms
Our hearts drip slick like black oil
That’s why our bodies be a gold mine
Brothers try to hit the gold
with 50 cent words
And hate 400 years old but
They don’t know
They gotta dig deep into their capillaries
Shovel past their insecurity
before they can even reroute to our
Shadowed treasure
They forgot black gold birthed them
They been so mixed up by ivory misconceptions that
They got greyscales building a film on their eyes
And it doesn’t even hurt them when the confused try to depreciate our value anymore
Their pupils dilated with lies

Black gold so beautiful the earth’s core mimics her aura
But they make you hate you when they don’t understand you
Your magnificence  so far beyond comprehension their brain cells combust at the thought of your regality
Black Gold
They melt in your presence
and seeping into black dirt is the closest they get to your depth
They’re subconsciously jealous so they busy tryna bring your self esteem to death
But our black beauty is endless

Black love don’t cry
Sometimes black tears don’t dry
I still see the riverbeds engraved on your cheeks

Black blood
God spells your name in the sky
People think the stars are the masterpiece but your loveliness so vast he used
your blood to paint the sky
the stars are just cutouts, your raven color is the foreground
Black Gold
They have it misconstrued. God made cream colors just to offset your beauty
You be the art, they just the canvas
Black blood
You are
splendor so magnanimous
He painted you on the inside of eyelids
So all of existence could spend some time with you
He made your kinky coils so they could catch love in the strands when the breeze blew
He made chocolate dipped honey and let it bake in the Holy sun
So candy could almost taste as exquisite as you look
Don’t let the rapper fool you, obsidian ambrosia
Black Gold
Thunder even rounds in applause for you
Your beauty makes the sky cry
Van Gogh didn’t know he dreamt you one night
And he copied the inside of your womb to paint Starry Night
But it couldn’t really come close to the masterpiece
Held inside of you

Black blood you don’t know
The universe bleeds you
In shooting stars
and honors you in the embrace of an eclipse
your love is beyond solar or lunar
Galactic systems sync in serruptitious symphonies for you
oceans orchestrate arias for you
you drip radiance when you breathe
you birth miracles when you sleep

black blood
you are the preamble and the epilogue and the novel in between
God made your skin like ink because you are His favorite story
He placed pieces of you in the Heavens and hid your essence in the Earth
Words are too fickle and feeble to accurately portray your eminent glory

Black blood
Doves are white because their peace couldn’t compare to you
Black blood
They aint never seen beauty til they seen you
They spew venom because they don’t understand you
Subconsciously they envy you

But black blood you are beautiful
They’re blind
And even in darkness
Your beauty drowns them
Black blood
They aint never seen beauty til they seen you
